Overview
The new ThinkPad T21, T22 systems support features and options that are common with the ThinkPad A21p and A21m. Features include the Ultrabay(TM)2000 and the UltraPort on selected models. Options such as memory, port replication, and docking are available.

The ThinkPad T21, T22 is 33.1 mm (1.3 in) thin(7) with optimal travel configurations weighing 2.1 kg (4.6 lb)(8). Its dimensions are 304 x 250 mm (20.0 x 9.8 in). The new titanium composite cover gives you added strength(11).

All ThinkPad T21, T22 models come with an UltraPort connector on the edge of the top panel. This innovative port supports an optional digital camera and power-management functions required by Bluetooth(TM) wireless options (available fourth quarter 2000). The location of the port allows optimal performance for both applications.

Ease of use

Robust system manageability
Supports Universal Manageability (UM) Services, a set of management tools that enhances existing systems and products.

Optimized flexibility with optional features
With the Ultrabay 2000, fast and easy hot- and warm-swapping of many components gives you the flexibility to configure the system.

Versatile TrackPoint™
Press-to-Select and Release-to-Select features allow tapping of the TrackPoint pointing device to speed icon launches and reduce keystrokes.

NOTES:

  1. MHz only measures microprocessor internal clock speed, not application performance. Many factors affect application performance. For Intel Mobile Pentium III processors with SpeedStep technology, MHz speed denotes maximum performance mode; battery-optimized performance mode is approximately 80% of maximum performance.
  2. GB equals one billion bytes when referring to hard disk. Accessible capacity may vary.
  3. The V.90 modem can receive data at up to 56 Kbps from a compatible service provider and transmit data at up to 31.2 Kbps. Public networks currently limit maximum download speeds to about 53 Kbps. Actual speeds depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.
  4. External device must support the same maximum resolution and refresh rate as that of the built-in notebook display. Available
video memory may limit resolution and/or color depth. Individual application support for this feature will vary.
  5. Variable read rate. Actual playback speed will vary and is often less than the maximum possible.
  6. Refer to the IBM Statement of Limited Warranty for terms governing IBM support obligations. For a copy of the IBM Statement of Limited Warranty, customers can contact their authorized IBM Business Partner or IBM customer representative.
    United States, Canada
Copies of the IBM Statement of Limited Warranty can be obtained by contacting your reseller or calling IBM. In the United States, call IBM at 1-800-426-7378. In Canada, call IBM at 1-800-565-3344.
  7. Thickness may vary at certain points on the system.
  8. Actual weight may vary depending on vendor components, or manufacturing process, or options. Weight includes battery and optional travel bezel.
  9. Recognizes up to 512 MB of addressable memory in models with the Mobile Pentium III processor. Memory options up to 256 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs each can be added in the two available slots for memory expansion.
  10. Titanium composite fiber reinforced plastic has three times the strength of ABS plastic as tested by IBM using high flex modulus
    test on February 28, 2000.

Depending on the model, a 24x-10x CD-ROM or a 8x-2.3x DVD drive is installed in the system.

Selected open-bay models (A7U, B7U, and C7U) do not come with a CD-ROM or DVD drive. (United States)

An optional SuperDisk (LS120) drive, or a second HDD in the Ultrabay 2000, expands storage. The second HDD option, requiring an adapter, can be used with all ThinkPad T21, T22 models. The 1.44 MB diskette drive (FDD) can be plugged directly into the ThinkPad T21, T22 Ultrabay 2000 or attached externally for added flexibility by using an optional adapter and cable available from IBM Accessories.

Audio
Full-duplex audio on the system board and the integrated microphone allow voice annotation and audio. The system is equipped with audio in/out jacks for stereo speakers, headphone, or external microphone. The system supports Sound Blaster audio applications.

Video
Models with Windows 98 Second Edition support a system display and an external monitor simultaneously(4) while different
applications are on each screen. Move the cursor from one screen to the other and drag and drop items from the application on one screen to the application on the second screen.
